How to Visit Bolivia in 2 Weeks – Itinerary and Path

Bolivia might be small compared to other countries surrounding it, but fact remains there is are a lot of things to do in Bolivia. It is hard to explore the country in less than a month and trying to do so will force backpackers to make difficult choices. In only 2 weeks it is impossible to fit

The Must-see of Bolivia:

  • Salar de uyuni
  • Amazonian Forest
  • La Paz
  • Lago Titicaca

Great to see:

  • Sucre
  • Potosi
  • Tupiza
  • Santa Cruz

Jungle or Salar de Uyuni

The best way to discover Bolivia in 2 weeks is to choose between the jungle or the Salar de Uyuni. I strongly recommend the Salar de Uyuni as the jungle can also be explored in Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. The Salar de Uyuni is a unique sight and is clearly the greatest attraction in Bolivia. It takes a while to get there and the activity itself can be quite time consuming.

Where to land: La Paz

La Paz is a good place to land as you are close to Lago Titicaca, the Jungle and the major roads to bring you towards Uyuni, Sucre or Potosi.

Visiting Bolivia in 2 weeks

This is the option I recommend since you get to explore Bolivia and see an impressive diversity of highlights. You also get a few days to relax at Isla del Sol and Copacabana before heading back towards real life. The first day in La Paz will probably take a toll on you as you need to adapt to altitude – you can expect altitude sickness. There are a lot of things to do in La Paz and afterwards seeing Sucre is quite a contrast. Spending a day in Potosi to explore the mines and see the harsh reality of many Bolivians before heading towards the town of Uyuni to start the 3 day tour around the Salar is an experience.

Jungle & Salar de Uyuni in 2 weeks (Not recommended)

This really isn’t recommended as you will spend so much time in transportation not really seeing anything beside : La Paz, the jungle and the Salar de uyuni. It will also be very expensive as you do a lot of expensive activities in such a short amount of time; the rest of the time you will just be moving from one place to the other. This really isn’t a vacation it will take all your energy.

Jungle & Salar of Uyuni (Not recommended)

Day 1 Arriving in la Paz
Day 2 Enjoy La Paz, get acclimatized
Day 3 La Paz
Day 4 Go to the jungle (flight)
Day 5 jungle

Day 7 Jungle

Day 9 Transportation towards uyuni
Day 10 Salar de Uyuni

It is much better to visit Bolivia in 3 weeks; then you can really soak the country in and see what Bolivia is really about.
